Giorgio and Janna Romani, Pastor Percy Huamàn of Calvary Baptist Church
Giorgio and Janna Romani along with their children, Vienna, Vincenzo, and Luca, are missionaries serving in the city of Lima, Peru for the past 11 years. Giorgio and Janna met at Bible college in 2006. Shortly after their wedding he began pastoring a church in Florida. In 2012, the Lord guided them to leave the US and serve in a Spanish-speaking country. Their three kids were born on the field, and have been a blessing to their lives and ministries. Giorgio pastored at Iglesia Bautista de Fe until early 2023. Their current ministry continues with an emphasis on theological education through conferences and modules in different parts of Peru and other South American countries with MADEL, and also by teaching in the Seminario Teológico Bautista de Lima.
Our team will be assisting one of the national pastors that MADEL works with, Pastor Percy Huamàn of Calvary Baptist Church in Wanchaq, Cusco. Pastor Percy shared the following with us: “In the surrounding areas of our church there are many places with great economic need, and for this reason the people often do not have access to healthcare. Much of our church is anemic. A medical team would be such a help to these families and also an opportunity to share the gospel of salvation. We are already praying for this team. God bless you.”

Trip Description
Peru is a diverse and vibrant country located in western South America, known for its rich history, varied geography, and strong cultural heritage. Once the heart of the Inca Empire, it is home to iconic sites like Machu Picchu and a mix of indigenous and Spanish colonial influence. The landscape ranges from the Amazon rainforest to the Andes mountains and arid coastal plains. Peru’s economy is bolstered by mining, agriculture, and tourism. The majority of the population identifies as Catholic—approximately 60–65% are Roman Catholic, while 15–20% are Evangelical Protestant, reflecting the country’s deep religious roots and growing diversity of faith.
Nestled high in the Andes Mountains, Cusco is a breathtaking city with a rich cultural heritage and deep spiritual needs. Once the heart of the Inca Empire, Cusco is now a vibrant blend of ancient history and modern Peruvian life. With its cobblestone streets, colorful markets, and centuries-old architecture, Cusco is a city where the past and present meet.
Today, it serves as a gateway to world-renowned landmarks like Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley, but beneath the tourism is a population of around 500,000 thousand people searching for hope and truth. Many in Cusco still practice traditional Andean religions blended with Catholicism, and few have access to clear, Gospel-centered teaching.
Despite its beauty, Cusco faces challenges. The high altitude (over 11,000 feet) affects daily life, especially for those with health conditions, and healthcare access can be limited. Economic inequality is visible, especially in the surrounding rural communities.
Many tourists and adventure seekers frequent this area for incredible hikes and spectacular views. Keep in mind the high altitude when considering your trip to this amazing city!
